Our History

1993-Present

The KABC was formed in 1993 after several meetings of coaches representing various regions of the state. The meetings took place in Lexington, Kentucky, at the KHSAA offices. The purpose of these meetings was to develop a basketball coaches' association that would protect and promote the game and its tradition rich legacy.

The organizational committee developed a constitution and by-laws and officially named the newly formed body the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC). All organizational meetings were chaired by Ken Trivette of George Rogers Clark High School and Curtis Turley of Henderson County High School.

They were attended by Maurice Payne of Louisville Male High School, Leslie Scully of Louisville Male High School, Jack Upchurch of Lincoln County High School, John High of Whitesburg High School, Connie Greene of Ashland Paul Blazer High School, Cindy Stewart of Belfry High School, Mike Flynn of Covington Holmes High School, Roscoe Denny of Danville High School, and Lloyd Gardner of Fairdale High School.
